1. The knock sensor is on a mount inbetween the lower intake and the block adjacent to cylinder #3. The only way to get to it is to pull the lower intake manifold.
2. The knock sensor in an alternate location will still function almost as well as in the stock location. The frequency of vibration that triggers it will travel throughout the engine and be picked up by the sensor. The factory location is optimum for the frequency, but inherently difficult to access. the alternate location is deffinitely a viable alternative to pulling everything required to get to its stock location.
